LEARN, a Regional Educational Service Center (RESC), serves 21 school districts in southeastern/shoreline Connecticut. Federal funding and local support led to the creation of LEARN as an entity to provide services to students in August, 1967. State statutes (section 10-66) authorized the establishment of RESC's and LEARN became one of six in the state effective July 1, 1968. LEARN is a public educational agency governed by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of members who are elected to a local Board of Education and are then appointed by that Board to serve on the LEARN Board.
