TFS students show their thanks to the Waterford Police Department

Chief Brett Mahoney paid a visit to The Friendship School on Tuesday, Jan. 9, to meet students who recently honored the Waterford Police Department.

Mrs. Toledo’s pre-kindergarten class has been learning about community helpers and recently reached out to the local police to thank them. The students created and signed handprint cutouts, writing, “Hi Five! Thank you for your service!” on each print. They made a book of their cutouts and sent it to the police department.

Waterford police appreciated the effort. Chief Mahoney placed each handprint on the department’s wall during a roll call session, showing his officers that the students were thankful.

In appreciation, the chief visited Mrs. Toledo’s class to personally thank the students. He presented small gifts, including cups, pencils, and wristbands, and took time to explain his role in the department and the police work that officers perform on a daily basis.
